Michael Barone: "Gutenberg is Dead!"In the first of a series - PAJAMAS MEDIA INTERVIEWS MAINSTREAM MEDIA - Michael Barone speaks with Roger L. Simon on the election, blogging and where the media is heading. After this interview, Barone went on to interview President Bush. Podast of that interview is here. ——— Comments (2)JoeS :AST :The bloggers from USNews are some of the best. Michael Barone and John Leo are two of my favorite writers. Now, if we could get Brit Hume . . . If Gutenberg really is dead, we'd better come up with a media format as lasting and accessible as printed books. I've been going through piles of stuff from my office, and my current computer can only read and record on CDs, but I have material stored on 5.25 inch floppies, 3.5 in. floppies, as well. I can play DVDs but all the new laptops have DVD-RW drives. I still have a stack of old hard drives that I no longer have an interface for. I have a Zip Drive and a Syquest Drive from a company that has gone bankrupt. What will the library of the future look like? I hope it's will hold up better than microfilm has. Those old readers using spools of film seem so primitive today. I wonder how the Library of Congress is coping. Comments have been archived for this page. |

Michael Barone is one bright star in the slag-heap of what remains of our "Free Press."
I have been "forced" by Michael and John Leo to keep my subscription to US News. I have dropped all the rest.
